Policies & Information
Late Fees/Delinquent Payments
There is a $10 fee for late payments and a $35 fee for returned checks.
Refunds (only applies to private music instruction, not Kindermusik classes)
If the student has paid for a full semester and the student chooses to withdraw within the first 4 weeks, there will be a 75% refund. If the student withdraws within 5-8 weeks, there will be a 50% refund. After week 8 there will be no refunds. If the student is paying monthly and chooses to discontinue study, a written notice must be submitted one month before cessation of lessons. Two months tuition must be paid, the month of notice and the following month. (Discontinuing lessons leaves a vacancy that could have been filled by another student and leaves a gap in the teaching period for the teacher.)
Make-Up Lessons
The student should attend all lessons unless the student is ill. The student is allowed 1 make-up lesson per semester due to out of town trips, school functions, or sickness. (The only exception is in case of a serious illness or event that causes the student to miss 3 or more consecutive lessons in one semester. In this case, we will make a special concession and work with you on a case by case basis.) If sickness occurs, please call the Academy Office (232-0796). We would like a 24-hour notice, but we know that sometimes that cannot happen. Again, lessons will be rescheduled if at all possible.
Students who are more than 10 minutes late for a lesson forfeit that lesson at the discretion of the teacher.
If the teacher misses a lesson due to illness, there will be a makeup lesson arranged by the teacher for all missed lessons.
When to Arrive
Plan to arrive about 5 minutes early for lessons (but not too early). Please sign-in at the desk before your lesson and sign-out when your lesson has concluded. Everyone must enter and exit the building using the Clinton Street doors.
Behavior Protocol
If there is a student taking a lesson when you arrive, wait quietly in the chair outside the sudio. Please go to the restroom before it is time for the lesson.Parents, you are welcome to wait in the lobby or outside your child’s studio.
What to Bring
Bring all the music books, papers, etc. that the teacher has assigned for you to use. It is essential that you be prepared. The lesson cannot be held without your materials. If materials are left at home, there will be no makeup lesson because of lack of materials. Each student will purchase materials from the instructor.
